Ten Unique Apartments in a Historic Setting

Each of the ten self-contained maisonettes and apartments faces into the original courtyard, creating a calm and quiet sanctuary despite being right in the centre of town. These thoughtfully designed one-bedroom spaces are ideal for weekend breaks, business trips, or longer stays, with everything you need for a comfortable, self-catered experience.

A Building Steeped in History

St Catherine’s Hospital has been part of Bath’s story for nearly 600 years. First endowed to St John’s in 1444, it was rebuilt in 1553 as an almshouse for ten people, and again in 1829. Though originally designed for charitable housing, narrow hallways eventually made it unsuitable for those with limited mobility. In 2008, its use was reimagined — and in 2018, with the support of the Charity Commission, this Grade II listed building was transformed into ten beautiful short-stay apartments. Importantly, the value of the original almshouse was preserved to continue providing support for those in need elsewhere in the city.

A Tranquil Spot in the Heart of Bath

St Catherine’s is ideally located just behind the Thermae Spa and a stone’s throw from the Roman Baths, putting Bath’s rich history, culture, and cuisine right on your doorstep. From independent shops and cafés to world-renowned landmarks and the rolling countryside beyond, it’s the perfect base to explore everything this UNESCO World Heritage city has to offer.
